This Nationwide event began last Friday as online conservative activists rallied to CNBC’s Rick Santelli’s call last week, backed by mortgage traders, for a “Nationwide Chicago Tea Party” (a tribute to the historic tax revolt known as The Boston Tea Party) to protest the Obama Administration’s bailout plan.
Moving quickly, Top Conservatives on Twitter , Smart Girl Politics, the #DontGo Movement, Americans for Tax Reform, the Heartland Institute, and American Spectator Magazine joined forces to announce a “Nationwide Chicago Tea Party”, to be held on Friday, February 27 at noon EST.
The tea party will be held simultaneously in Chicago, Washington DC, Atlanta, and dozens of locations around the US, and on Twitter, using the #teaparty hashtag.

I just heard about this on FoxNews and I live in Atlanta…I was upset that it wasn’t advertized more. I wanted to be there and protest this Huge govt spender…Obama!

I followed up with you via email. I hope that you did make it even though it was raining. We are having another Tea Party on April 15th, details of when and where to be announced. Also, there will be a Smart Girls Politics Meet and Greet Party on April 18th. Again, the details of when and where to be announced. I hope to meet you in person soon.

The event was organized in just 4 business days and the advertising was a bit limited with such a short notice. We are planning to have 9 more dates of Nationwide Tea Parties between now and Election Day 2010. The next one is April 15th, the details of when and where to be announced. I’ll be sure to let you know the details and add you to our e-mail list so you know in advance next time.
