I want to preface this article by saying that our family is not a family of hunters. No one in my immediate family has hunted and the same goes for Mr. Right’s immediate family. Mr. Right and I do not own guns. We are, however, Pro-Second Amendment and believe the Founding Fathers had it right when they gave citizens the Right to Bear Arms. We have occasionally thought of purchasing a gun but have never done so. Mr. Right and I have gone to target practice with friends and it is something we both enjoy doing. For the purposes of this post, my point is we do not talk about hunting, shooting, or guns very often in our house.
Last night at dinner, BusyBoy said he thought he would be a hunter when he grows up.
Me: What will you hunt?
BusyBoy: I’ll hunt bears and alligators.
Me: What will you do when you find them?
BusyBoy: I’ll shoot them.
Me: What will you shoot them with?
BusyBoy: I’ll shoot them with a gun. (Underlying implication Duh, Mom!)
Me: You could shoot them with a camera.
BusyBoy: What will that do?
Me: That will take pictures of the bears and alligators.
BusyBoy: Oh.
A moment of thinking, then BusyBoy: I could shoot them with a camera and then shoot them with my gun.
