Campaign Until You Barf

December 1st, 2008 · 3 Comments

Tonight, my husband, kids, and I were out putting up yard signs for Sen. Saxby Chambliss’ runoff election.  As far as campaign activities go, putting up yard signs is not (usually) a miserable job and can sometimes be fun.  You can talk to the people you are putting signs up with and get excited that the campaign is finally coming to a close.

Tonight, there was not much any fun.  It was misting a light, icy rain.  The ground was wet, which is good because it was soft for the sign wires.  Sometimes Georgia’s red clay can be almost impossible to put a sign into.  Mr. Right would pull up to a location, I’d hope out of the car, grab 8 signs, put them up as quickly as possible, and hop back in to go to the next location.

The children usually are pretty well behaved and can handle an hour or so of this.  Tonight, BusyBoy was whining and complaining. I noticed he looked pretty pale and thought he was getting carsick.  We grabbed a plastic bag for him just in case and promised we would be done in just a few more minutes.  We had 4 more locations to go.  We made it to 2 of them and then he puked.

We went home immediately and got BusyBoy in the shower.  After the shower, while not 100%,  he was feeling better.

If Saxby does win tomorrow, I hope he appreciates how loyal my family has been to his campaign! He can repay us by voting conservative, Republican values!

While a poor little guy puking shouldn’t be funny, this is a pretty great story. Glad he is feeling better.

Funny story….hope your son is feeling better!
It’s really great to hear that there are people out there still who have conservative, Republican values still! I think society is drowning itself with taking these values out of the political scene!

Hello from a fellow volunteer at the Fulton GOP in Sandy Springs – I salute you for all the work you have done because I share the frenzy and frazzlement that has been going on – have enjoyed all the big GOP names who have visited us recently – but missed seeing Rudy :(
Maybe we met down at the GOP Headquarters and didn’t know it
But we still don’t know the results and I’m on pins and needles
