As with any community with these traits, some residents chose to never leave. Whether it is the departed spirit of a civil war soldier or a mysterious resident of one of Marietta’s stately homes or businesses, you will hear the stories behind these mysteries and as some tour guests have, you may even see them yourself. Every ghost and haunting has a story. Tours check in and depart from the bay side of the building. The tour lasts approximately 90 minutes and the walk is under 1 mile.

The festivities start off with Bluegrass Friday will feature the Mosier Brothers with David Blackmon, Mulligan Stew, Curley Maple, and the Sautee Jamboree Bluegrass Band followed by a late night jam. If you are too tired from partying late into the night on Friday, you are more than welcome to camp on the lawn for free (please no pets allowed). Saturday morning there will be an all you can eat pancake breakfast in the Community Hall from 8am – 11am. After breakfast the music starts up and goes all day long from 11am – 12:00 midnight with performances by Sol Driven Train especially for the kids at 11:00am, The Tommy Talton Band, Big City Sunrise, Col. Bruce Hampton and the Quark Alliance, Blueground Undergrass, and Scott Baston and The News Architects.

Scarecrow Harvest

The City of Alpharetta invites teachers and students from local elementary schools to celebrate the spirit of the fall season by creating a scarecrow for the 3rd Annual Scarecrow Harvest. A colorful hit with the community, the scarecrows from schools will be on display on Main Street (SR 9) in Historic Downtown Alpharetta beginning October 1. Residents and businesses throughout Alpharetta are encouraged to join in the fun by displaying their own scarecrows as well. Awards will be given to classrooms for Most Creative, Best Constructed, Best Personality and SchCOOLEST (school with the most participating classrooms) Scarecrows. Each award category will receive a $100 donation by DATA and Colonial Bank. Barbecue sandwiches, hot dog and more from Smokejack, A Southern Grill, and fall treats such as caramel apples will be offered. FREE parking is offered at City Hall and Milton Center (old Milton High School). Last year some 68 scarecrows from thirteen elementary schools lined Main Street. The City of Alpharetta invites teachers and students from local elementary schools to celebrate the spirit of the fall season by creating a scarecrow for the 3rd Annual Scarecrow Harvest. A colorful hit with the community, the scarecrows from schools will be on display on Main Street (SR 9) in Historic Downtown Alpharetta beginning October 1. Residents and businesses throughout Alpharetta are encouraged to join in the fun by displaying their own scarecrows as well. Awards will be given to classrooms for Most Creative, Best Constructed, Best Personality and SchCOOLEST (school with the most participating classrooms) Scarecrows. Each award category will receive a $100 donation by DATA and Colonial Bank. Barbecue sandwiches, hot dog and more from Smokejack, A Southern Grill, and fall treats such as caramel apples will be offered. FREE parking is offered at City Hall and Milton Center (old Milton High School). Last year some 68 scarecrows from thirteen elementary schools lined Main Street. The Harvest Square Festival is an Arts and Crafts Festival features many local and area artists and craftspeople. Exhibitors include: painting, pottery, woodwork, metal, jewelry, glass, fabric, floral designs, and more.
The festival also includes Halloween Happenings and Scarecrows on the Square. Halloween Happenings features games, activities, and prizes for the entire family. There will be a costume contest, whose winners usually wear creative homemade costumes, a pet costume contest, and decorated pumpkin contest.
Scarecrows on the Square are setup by schools, groups, and organizations the first week in October and remain until November 1.

Museum Mascots Murray and Etta are whimsical cartoon mice that will help convey the themes for the tours and provide a little fun. The tours will offer a variety of activities including story time and crafts. November 12 – Nurray’s Cool Tools.

Gobble Jog

The Gobble Jog is a Thanksgiving Day event benefiting MUST Ministries featuring a 1K, 5K, a 10K run/walk and the Tot Trot (for kids 5 and under). The Gobble Jog is certified as a qualifier for seeding in the Peachtree Road Race and the US 10K Classic.
