McCain Picks Palin for Veep

August 29th, 2008 · 5 Comments

I am so excited that Senator McCain selected Governor Palin as his Veep candidate!  Woohoo!!

I am from Georgia, not Alaska, but it is my understanding that she has accomplished quite a few things and is an experienced executive.  I have been following her for several months and have hoped and prayed McCain would choose her as his Veep.

In her own words, Palin’s acceptance speech.

The most important thing she has going for her, in my opinion, is that she is a Governor and not a US Senator.  The Executive Branch is much different from the legislative branch.  An executive must decide to either approve or veto a bill.  A Governor and a President cannot abstain from voting.  An executive must take a stand and take action.

She is in favor of energy independence, which we desperately need in this country. She is using money from Alaska to build a $40 billion gas pipeline to pump domestic gas into the continental US.

Gov. Palin has used her veto power and cut budgetary spending.  She prevented the $400 million dollar bridge to nowhere from being built.

As the head of the Alaska National Guard and as the mother of a son in the military, she understands the importance of supporting our troops and what it takes to lead our nation.

Finally, she’s not just a woman.  She’s a conservative, Republican, experienced leader; and she seems to be a woman who lives by her principles.

I could not be more thrilled. She seems like a fabulous pick. I find it interesting that most Democrats including Obama have responded today questioning her experience. Maybe that’s all they got negative to say :)

Thanks for commenting, Diaper Diaries. I’m could not be more thrilled either!!

Complaining about lack of experience might be a slippery slope for Dems to take. I guess we’ll see soon enough.

My father knows her well and says she’s just what she appears, genuine and nice and accessible. People love her here, she hasn’t been afraid of her own party and can say “no”.

    Michelle,

Thanks for taking the time to read my post and comment on it. I always feel so honored when you comment on my blog because you are so popular and have so many comments on your own blog to reply to.

Thanks also for giving me insight into her from your father’s perspective. It helps to know about a politican from a more local standpoint.

BTW, my 5 year old twins want us to go to Alaska and visit you while we are there. They have heard me talk about your posts so often that they feel like they know you. They were very intrigued by your taste testing post. Now that you think I am some crazy blog stalker, I’ll quit typing. :-)

I’m very excited about Palin, too! I hope this is enough for the (R) to win the election.

    God bless~
