A couple of weeks ago, I noticed that there was a show on Food Network with Disney Princess Cakes and another one with Disney Villain Cakes. I thought that the children and I could watch this rather than their regular programming. Usually, they only watch a very few carefully selected children’s shows. While these shows entertain them, they certainly leave a lot to be desired for me. So, my hope was that the children and I could watch a show on the Food Network that would be enjoyable for all of us.
I was not disappointed. - Neither were the children.

The show is called just called Challenge. The premise of these particular episodes of the show is that 5 chefs cook their absolute best cake in the assigned category in a set amount of time. The two categories of the show we watched were Disney Princesses and Disney Villains.
These cakes were absolutely incredible. I mean in-cred-ee-ble!
The children really enjoyed watching the show. They sat through the first episode and asked a lot of questions. What are they doing? Why are they spray painting frosting on? Why are they cutting the cakes? What is that tool? Why are the cakes so big? (Each cake has to be like 3 feet tall minimum.) Oh, look at that - what is it? On and on the questions went but in a fun way.
At the end of the show a winner is selected based on which contestant earns the most points. GigglyGirl picked the winner of the Princess Challenge and she was right.
During the Villain Challenge, BusyBoy played with his Elefun game. He turned the game on so that the trunk was inflated. Then he got GigglyGirl’s pretend makeup toys and started decorating the elephant. He said he was decorating his own cake. During the entire episode of the Villain Challenge he decorated his own cake copying what the contestants were doing on the show. GigglyGirl was his assistant but she still cuddled with me a bunch watching the show.
At the end of the show, GigglyGirl again picked the winner and she was right again!
Next, I had to pick the winner of BusyBoy’s Cake Challenge. It was close but BusyBoy’s cake won in the end!

I love watching the Food Network. when my children were smaller I would watch it with them as well and many times we would go in the kitchen and try to replicate some of what we saw…now they are all in their teens and they are pretty good cooks. Thanks for sharing
