On Sunday, a friend and former colleague of mine died in a motorcycle accident. Stuart and I worked together for 5 years at The Home Depot. We were on the same team almost the entire time we worked there. He looked very much like John McEnroe and ironically he loved to play tennis.
There are some people in life that do not make much of a lasting impression on you. These kind of blend in with the scenery. They do not make waves and they do not really stand out in any way. This was not the case with Stuart. He was always very animated and full of life. He was a passionate person. He was fun to be around. He will be missed.
Unfortunately, this is the second person I know to die from a motorcycle accident in less than a month. The other person was a son of a friend of mine. That boy was 19 years old. Stuart was 44. Both are survived by their parents.
The pain of losing a child, whether the child is 4, 14, or 54 is such a hard pain to bear. Both of the families are in my thoughts and prayers. Thankfully, both families have strong faith to see them through this difficult time.

I am so sorry to hear about this. Anyone’s passing from this earth can be a sad occasion, but especially for someone who actually made an impact on your life. Not knowing anyone of this nature and working with just a bunch of cardboard cut outs for humans I can honestly say this; consider yourself blessed that at least you got to know this person and spend some time with them. I would give anything for such an experience.

Doug,
Thank you for taking the time to comment on my site. You are right that I have been blessed to work with such wonderful people. The only thing I miss about working in corporate America is my friends and co-workers from The Home Depot. They were and are good people who made work enjoyable.
