BusyBoy and GigglyGirl will be starting kindergarten on Monday. It is so hard for me to believe that it was 5 years ago when Mr. Right and I were up all night and all day nursing, changing diapers, swaddling, singing, and rocking our sweet, precious babies. But my memories and how much I am going to miss them everyday is not the point of this post.
Our summer schedule has been a bit chaotic. There are days when BusyBoy and GigglyGirl go to sleep later than normal. Days when they are in their jammies all day long. Days when we lay in bed and cuddle for an hour before getting up to face the day. There have even been one or two days when they go watch a show or two and I snooze a little bit later in the morning. It’s the lazy, hazy days of summer and we have soaked it up!!
Obviously, with kindergarten starting, we have to get back into a more strict routine.
Instead of changing our entire schedule on Sunday night and rushing around on Monday morning trying to start a new routine, I decided we would start it Sunday night. We are putting our clothes out for the next day before bedtime stories. When we woke up yesterday morning, we had a few minutes of cuddle time. I reminded them that it was time to work on our new routine. When I mentioned our new routine, GigglyGirl almost started crying because she does not want to start kindergarten just yet. I told her it was still a whole week away and we are just practicing getting ready. Then I tickled her and she laughed. Before we went downstairs for breakfast, we all got dressed all the way down to their shoes.
Hopefully, the plan will work and Monday morning will go smoothly.
As an added bonus for my efforts this morning, BusyBoy decided to reward me with a special gift. After breakfast, he really wanted the extra cuddle time. We sat in a rocking chair for half an hour just cuddling. He talked about some of his friends and some of his toys for a little bit. Mostly he just cuddled close to me on my lap while we rocked. It was a very awesome!!
