Even if you have only light traffic on your blog, there are several things you can do to make it at least pay for itself and maybe give you a little extra spending money. Here’s a list of 13 different services that are available (at no cost to you) to help you make money online with your website.
.) Google AdSense – This is pretty simple and low maintenance once you get it setup and started. The online tool walks you through setting up the size and appearance of the ad window that you will insert into your blog. Then you just copy and paste the HTML code into the right spots on your site and it does the rest. It analyzes the words on your blog to determine what ads are relevant to the content of your writing and, voila, it posts those ads. Whenever someone clicks on one of those ads you get paid a few cents. When your balance reaches $100, Google sends you a check!
.) Amazon Associates – Amazon has just about one of everything on the planet available for purchase. And they’ll pay you a commission if you refer someone to their site to buy one of those products. So if you’re discussing a specific product of any kind in one of your posts, go to your Amazon Associates account, find that product, and insert the HTML link into your site. Then if one of your readers is interested they can click on it right from your site and get what they want sent right to their home. Here’s and example of a site using it heavily: Scented Soy Pillar Candles.
.) NetAudioAds – I’m still evaluating this one because it is so new, but it seems promising. As with some of the others, it’s pretty low maintenance once you have it going. After you signup and insert the code into your site, people who come to your site will hear a 15 second audio advertisement of some kind. You get paid every time an ad is heard, even if the listener doesn’t click on a link or do anything else. If you start using this, please give me your feedback on its performance.
.) Text Link Ads – There are thousands upon thousands of websites out there that want you to post a hyperlink to their URL using very specific keywords they’ve chosen, and they’ll pay you to do it. This service helps put you in touch with those folks. One warning, Google doesn’t like this practice and if you do too much of it they might penalize you by lowering your page rank. So proceed with caution.
.) eToys Affiliate Program – Sign up, then send your readers to this website to buy toys and earn 5% of what they spend.
.) StuffedAnimals.com Affiliate Program – It’s much easier to find exactly what you’re looking for online than it is driving from store to store on a quest. Your readers will appreciate the vast selection and ease of searching on this site devoted specifically to stuffed animals. Need a stuffed platypus? Bet you can’t find that in the store, but they’ve got it and you can earn money for promoting it.
.) FridgeFilters.com Affiliate Program – Every modern refrigerator with an ice maker or water dispenser needs a filter that has to be changed every 6 months. Remind your readers, link them to this easy to use site, and earn $3 for every filter they buy.
.) VetAmerica.com Affiliate Program – If your readers have pets, they need medications, equipment, and other supplies. Refer them to this site to purchase these animal owner must-haves and get paid a 5% commission.
.) eCampus.com Affiliate Program – College students, parents of college students, and moms who are continuing their education will appreciate you making them aware of this site. They can buy new and used textbooks as well as every book in print and a whole bunch of other college and back-to-school gear. And again, you’ll earn a commission.
.) Marriage Fitness Program – Here’s a quote from the site: “Marriage Fitness is an innovative step-by-step relationship-changing system that will save and restore your marriage. You’ll learn to neutralize your problems and put into practice a system of positive relationship habits that will shift the momentum of your marriage. And the best news is—you don’t have to dig into your past, dredge up your problems, or practice communication techniques. This is not marriage counseling; it’s Marriage Fitness!” – Many of your readers may have an interest in this, and the commissions are quite generous.
.) FamilyRecRoom.com Affiliate Program – This site sells pool tables, foosball, arcade machines, popcorn & cotton candy machines and all kinds of other fun stuff to equip your rec-room or back yard. You get $27 for anything your readers buy over $300.
.) FreebieKing.com Affiliate Program – Earn $0.70 when one of your readers goes to this site and signs up for their sweepstakes. The site is really nothing more than a great big list of links to free contests, free giveaways, and free product samples.
.) eBay – Promote your own stuff for sale by posting it on eBay and linking to it from your site. You’ll greatly increase your chances of selling it if you write your own post to interest your readers before they go to the auction site.
