Check Out My New Header

April 15th, 2008 · 10 Comments

Talk About Tuesday

Ever since I began thinking of moving my wordpress.com blog to a new domain, I have wanted a cute header that would reflect my blog and my personality. I love the blogs that have the cartoon/avatar images (check out Make Yourself into a Cartoon) on them but I simply cannot create that on my own. If I want one of those, I have to pay for it and right now that is just not an option.

When I went live with the new domain, I decided I had to go live with what I had and work on making it pretty and better as I had time.  If I kept waiting for the blog to be perfect, I would never have gone live.  Still, I really wanted a different header.

Mr. Right has heard my dilemma for a couple of months and wanted to help.  Last night I told him the default images on this Wordpress Theme (or any of them) were just not working for me anymore.  Luckily, he is much better with Photoshop than I am.  I told insisted ordered asked him politely to create a header for me.  Please!

After about 30 minutes he had created it and in another few minutes loaded it for me.  I was so excited!!

He used a peach since we live in Georgia and Georgia is often referred to as the “Peach State.” He also used one of our flag photos.  I love flags.  This particular photo is on from a September 11 Memorial at Kennesaw State Park in Kennesaw, Georgia.  They flew 1 flag for each of the victims from September 11.  The site was incredible to see.  Everyone was so quiet as they walked around looking at this memorial.  Mr. Right decided to use this photo because he thinks it represents my patriotic spirit so well.

Finally, I told Mr. Right my tagline was entirely too long and it was simply not working either.  Again he has heard this for months.  So, he wordsmithed it and created a new tagline for me.

Let me know what you think so I can pass it on to my loving husband.

Looks great! It’s nice to have someone to help you out, even if you do have to nag for months. haha

Your new header is like something I would want to do. I like that it explains a lot about you without even having to read your posts or anything. Very cool!

I love your header, it is very original. Some of the cartoon ones – well they all start to look the same after a while. Yours is great!

It’s wonderful! It’s so fun to have your own personal look. I love mine but I think I’m due for something new any day now. We’ll see!

I love the sight of that many flags together, and it’s nice to have a custom look. I like to change my look almost as much as I like to rearrange my furniture.

I love seeing new, original headers. So many headers are too generic or trendy or just not indicative of what the site’s really about, but I have to say that the flags in yours are just a bit too much for me.

I’m glad you’re patriotic, and I would describe myself as patriotic, too, but when I see that in your header, I’m expecting your site to be more focused on military-type things than I think you are. If “patriotic” is your number one characteristic, then it’s great.

I do like how some sites change their headers monthly or less frequently. Have you considered that? With a rotating header you could use several different images that reflect your personality, rather than getting pideon-holed, perhaps.
