The Vicious, Viral, Vile Flu of 2008

February 28th, 2008 · 3 Comments

The Flu of 2008 hit our house and hit it with a vengeance last week. Everyone of us was sick. Mr. Right was also diagnosed with a sinus infection so he got antibiotics and a prescription cough med. GigglyGirl and BusyBoy were tested to make sure they did not have strep, which they did not. We were able to get a prescription strength anti-nausea med for them. BusyBoy and Mr. Right were better after 4 or 5 days, relatively speaking. GigglyGirl and I had a fever complete with aches and chills for 6 straight days.

I had fantasies of going to a hospital and being hooked up to an IV and a cath so I could avoid getting out of bed every so often. While being able to rest without getting out of bed would have been nice, I really did not want to go to the hospital. Luckily, I avoided such a fate.

A couple of days ago I got an antibiotic as well. My flu had developed into a sinus infection as well. I was also able to get a script to control my cough so I can sleep again at night. My voice has been hoarse for a 8 days running but is getting stronger.

While we each are still sporting a slight cough, we are on the mend. Next year, I am so getting a flu shot!

Get well wishes going out to all of you. Forget the flu shot. It doesn’t always work. It’s only good for the one strain that they THINK will hit during the winter. It’s a guessing game. Best to take lots of vitamins, avoid stress, wash hands often and wipe down all surfaces.
