It has been awhile since I participated in a Friday Fill-In and decided to do so again today.

1. The things I give thanks for this Thanksgiving are _____.

• My family, especially my husband and our children
• My friends (I learned what it was like this year to have friends who love without limits and judgment.)
• The roof over our head
• My consulting business
• The health of my family and myself
• God’s forgiveness and the peace forgiveness can bring when you give it to others 

2. My Thanksgiving traditions include eating turkey, ham, biscuits, and potatoes.  Mr. Right and I visit different family members for Thanksgiving or if we are really lucky we have family to our house and can prepare the Thanksgiving meal for them.  We are really lucky this year and have several family members coming to our home.  Mr. Right and I enjoy preparing food for family and friends and are looking forward to this.

3. The best part about Thanksgiving is taking time to prayerfully consider the things you are thankful for in the past year.

 4. My favorite Thanksgiving food is potatoes and biscuits with honey.  Oh, and the roasted marshmallows on the sweet potatoes but not the sweet potatoes themselves.   When I was a child that was pretty much all I ate for Thanksgiving.  I always thought the turkey was dry and the other food to elaborate and gross.

5. _____ was the most embarrassing thing that ever happened to me on Thanksgiving.  I cannot think of something embarrassing to happen to me on a Thanksgiving but I can think of one of my friends and former co-worker Ken’s most embarrassing Thanksgiving moment. 

Ken and his wife got a new oven and had their entire family over for Thanksgiving.  Ken was so excited about his new oven that he had to show everyone in the family all the features of it.  His wife had already started cooking the turkey.  He was showing what each of the dials and buttons did.  He said, “Look at this cool switch.  The oven will clean itself without any work.”  Next, he slid the self-cleaning switch to the on position.  All the women who were watching were yelling, “No! Stop!  Don’t”  Their warning screams were too late.  When he moved the switch the oven started heating up the highest temperature, locked the door, and would not budge. 

Ken was so devasated when he realized what he did. 

In the end, the men of the family had to use tools to remove the oven door from its hinges.  The Thanksgiving turkey was toast but at least he has had a funny story to tell over the years.  One that brings a smile to my face even now.

6. After the meal, I usually spend time with the family and then dash to the next family member’s house.  This year, I will get to clean up, relax, and then watch Miracle on 34th Street (the 1990s version) and sip hot chocolate with Mr. Right and our family.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to working while watching some of the week’s tivoed shows.  I have to label and stamp 5,000 postcards for a political mailing.  Tomorrow my plans include catching up on my Google Reader feeds from the week.  And Sunday, I want to go to church with our family and get a massage from Mr. Right in the evening after the children are in bed!  Woohoo!
