Thanksgiving for Children and Preschoolers

 Wfmwheader

Next week BusyBoy and GigglyGirl are out of school the whole week.  We are not going anywhere.  We are having a few family members over for Thanksgiving Dinner.  So, I am trying to find some fun activities for the children and I to do besides playing with the same toys and watching television.  Here are somethings that I have come up with so far:

  1. Thanksgiving Placemats
  2. Cornucopia Crafts
  3. Bake Pumpkin Bread
  4. Bake Banana Bread
  5. Cook Mashed Sweet Potatoes
  6. Create a “Thank You” Journal
  7. Make a Gratitude Wreath
  8. Thankgiving Memory Game
  9. Learn about the Mayflower Ship and Thanksgiving History
  10. Make Turkey Shaped Sandwiches
  11. Make edible Oreo Turkeys and edible Marshmallow Pilgrim Hats
  12. Create a Mayflower Ship
  13. Make a Pilgrim Hat

This week I am kind of cheating and using this post for three different memes:   Shannon’s Works for Me Wednesday, Scribbit’s Winter Bazaar, and Thursday Thirteen.  I did so much research and created so many projects to do next week, that I felt is was best to combine the post for the three different memes.

If you like this post, you might also be intersted in my other Thursday Thirteen posts on Pumpkin Bread Recipes and Sweet Potato Recipes.

Do you have Thanksgiving ideas and traditions that work for your children?  If so, leave a comment below and feel free to link to your blog if you have a post on your blog about it.

    What a fun list!
I love the little Oreo turkeys and marshmallow pilgrim hats. I’ve made turkey cookies with a Nutter Butter cookie (body) placed on top of a stripped shortbread cookie (feathers). We then add two mini chocolate chips (eyes) and a candy corn (beak). Happy Thanksgiving!

Oh Lord, I wish my mom had been like the moms today. Moms in those days just weren’t all that involved….those are excellent projects. Those are VERY LUCKY kids….

We are showing some photographs by a young photographer from Texas—-gorgeous things, honestly (I wouldn’t say it if they were my own)….
