I have reached the 100th post so I am doing the 100 things about me meme.

  1. I live in the Southern United States.
  2. I am the oldest of 4 children (2 girls and 2 boys).
  3. My parents have been married for 40 years.
  4. My father is a United Methodist minister.
  5. Because I have known God my entire life, I never had a transformational “you’ve been saved” moment.  God has always be been a vital part of my life and I have always felt His presence next to me.
  6. I hope and pray that I live my life as an example to my children so that they too can experience this lifelong walk with God.
  7. My parents lived their lives as an example for me.  My father truly practices what he preaches.
  8. I have 4 year old boy/girl twins.  They are not identical.  How could they be: one’s a boy and one’s a girl?
  9. My husband, Mr. Right, and I have been married for 15 years.
  10. We met in college.
  11. We were friends for almost 2 years before dating.
  12. He is my best friend!
  13. My college degree is a BBA with an MIS major.
  14. I supported the computer systems at a papermill in Alabama.
  15. Papermills really stink!  They smell awful!  Especially when it rains and it feels like the smell is rained onto your skin.
  16. After the papermill stint, I worked at The Home Depot for several years.
  17. It was a great place to work because most of my co-workers became real friends.
  18. I quit THD so I could focus on getting pregnant.
  19. We went through fertility treatments to get pregnant.
  20. It took us 3 years to get pregnant the first time.
  21. Clomid (a fertility drug) makes me a crazy psycho b*tch.
  22. I saw ultrasound pictures of my eggs before they were fertilized and turned into my 2 precious children.
  23. We found out at 5 weeks we were having twins, just 1 week after the positive pregnancy test.
  24. I always wanted to have twins.
  25. My maternal grandfather was a twin.  He had a twin sister. He also had another set of twin sisters.
  26. My maternal grandmother also has a set of twin sisters.
  27. All the twins have matching/coordinating names (i.e Doris and Dorothy).
  28. Mr. Right and I want to have more children, desperately, but do not know how that will become a reality.
  29. I really, really want to experience being pregnant again.
  30. If I do not get to experience this, I am very grateful for the two children and 1 pregnancy experience I have.
  31. It amazes me how quickly our children are growing up.
  32. BusyBoy is like me because he has to have a stack of books around him to fall asleep at night.
  33. GigglyGirl is like me because she likes to be face to face when she communicates. If I am not looking at her while she is talking, she will sometimes move my face to look at hers.
  34. Mr. Right and I check on the children every night before we fall asleep just like my parents did to my siblings and me each night before they went to sleep.
  35. I find it challenging to teach them new things because they like to answer for the other child.  I have to make sure they know when they have to be quiet while the other child is thinking of the answer.
  36. Sometimes I feel like a drill sergeant or a mean mom because I run a fairly tight ship with the children.
  37. Mr. Right and I want them to know they have to do what we say when we say it so that when they are teenagers they will do what they are supposed to do even when we are not around.
  38. Sometimes I think I let them get away with too much and that I am too weak.
  39. As hard as I try not to raise my voice and yell at my children, much to my dismay, I still do this more often than I would like.
  40. My favorite part of the day is when we cuddle up in the rocking chair for evening stories and prayers.
  41. My second favorite part of the day is when the children cuddle up with Mr. Right and me in our bed before getting up for the day.
  42. Mr. Right and I began volunteering on political campaigns in college.
  43. I interned for my US Congressman in DC when I was in college.
  44. I have been to the top outside of the US Capitol on a private tour during that internship.
  45. I now get paid to do political consulting rather than being a volunteer.
  46. I am learning how to be a wahm.
  47. The most challenging part of being a wahm for me is setting boundaries for when I should be working versus when I should be a mom and wife.
  48. Political Consulting is much different and much more rewarding than programming and supporting computers.
  49. The US Supreme Court has stopped my actions.  Literally!
  50. I was sent with a team to assist with the 2000 election recounts in Florida when the US Supreme Court issued a stay to stop all recounting.

  55. I have a difficult time being only a volunteer and not getting actively involved in whatever organization I work with.
  56. I figure what is the point of being involved if you are not going to be part of the 20% in the group that actually gets things done.  Mr. Right says he loves this about me.
  57. Mr. Right keeps me balanced and helps me evaluate whether or not I should agree to volunteer for certain activities.
  58. I am a firm believer in setting goals.
  59. Mr. Right and I set and review our goals regularly.
  60. We hope to instill this habit in our children as they get older.

  62. We have experienced firsthand that sometimes the best laid plans often go awry.
  63. We have learned that you must set goals but also be flexible with your plans.
  64. One of my grandparents is still alive. It is my paternal grandma.
  65. Mr. Right and I love Caviler King Charles Spaniels.
  66. We had one that we had to put to sleep the day after the November elections and beginning of the recounts in 2000.

  68. My maternal grandmother died from breast cancer.
  69. I have broken my right ankle twice.
  70. The first time I was 10 and there was a trampoline accident.

  80. Tivo, the Palm PDA, and my laptop are my favorite gadgets.
  81. I use the internet as my news source for 90% of my current event updates.
  82. I do not like to watch the news while my children are awake and at home because I think they are too young to hear the doom and gloom.
  83. Mr. Right and I love to watch tv.
  84. We love tivo and it has revolutionalized how we watch television.
  85. My favorite chapter in the Bible is Romans chapter 12.
  86. I have friends from all walks of life:  Christian, Jewish, Hindu, white, black, native southerners, transplants from other parts of the country and the world, people who are younger than me, people who are older than me, empty nesters, DINKS, parents who can get pregnant just by looking at each other, parents who suffered from infertility, parents who adopted, infertile friends who chose not to have children at all, people who speak English as their native tongue, people who learned English as a second or third language, Republicans, Democrats, and independents.
  87. I love having a diversity of friends because it reminds me of how the freedom of religion, press, and speech make this country great.
  88. I love spa days. I would have a massage and pedicures every week if I could!
  89. I think because my father is a minister and I grew up in parsonages and church owned furniture, I love that Mr. Right and I have our own home.
  90. Since I have started using coupons and watching grocery store sales, I do not think I will ever be able to go back to grocery shopping without them.
  91. It just seems like throwing good money away not to use them.
  92. I have been using David Allen’s Getting Things Done methodology since 2000.
  93. On my semi-annual reviews, my bosses would always say one of my biggest strengths is organization and I always thought it was one of my biggest areas to improve.  I guess I could always see ways I could do it better and they thought I did it very well where I was at.
  94. I love to bake desserts and cook for dinner parties and friends but I do not enjoy cooking on a daily basis.
  95. I feel guilty and conflicted about this because I know I should enjoy cooking for my family as much I as do for people who do not even live in my house.
  96. I am finding that blogging is one of my favorite past times. I hope I will continue to enjoy it after I hit the one year mark and beyond.
  97. My least favorite household chore is laundry. I simply do not seem to be able to ever keep up with it. If I am caught up it usually only lasts for a week. UGH!!!
  98. I enjoy beach vacations but I prefer to look at the beach and walk on it rather than laying out by it or swimming it in it. I’d rather be by the hotel pool and listen to the ocean than layout on the sandy beach.
  99. I usually cannot sit still for very long. When we go on vacations, I typically research the city and area where we are going beforehand. Then, I layout a plan of where to go, what to see, what to eat, and what to do while we are on vacation.
  100. I do not have a talent for decorating my house nor do I desire to have this talent. I’d rather have someone help me.

Your turn!  You can interview me.  Ask me a question in the comments, I will do my best to answer it for you!

I just fell upon your website, and almost spit water out of my nose when I read #21. Who doesn’t become a crazy psycho b*tch on CLOMID????

I am glad your fertility treatments worked for you! I have a beautiful daughter as a result of mine.

Good luck to you and Mr. Right.

I talked to you right after you returned from the GOP Convention. I would like to know what five people you would like to invite to a dinner party and why? Anyone you choose.

Hey Jen – Love this list! If I ever make it to 100 posts on my (relatively new) blog, I’m going to do this, too. You sound like quite a gal – since I’m also an ATL WAHM I hope our paths cross IRL someday!
